holdin onto the golden©

I used to look forward to the weekend,
i sang by the hour w/my best friend.
Now there's no music anymore,
it's just deafening silence by the score.
I can't bear to let the music play,
the music died with him that day.
Not just sad songs make me cry,
turning on any i won't even try.
I could have nursed him back to health,
at least i'd still have my greatest wealth.
As for riches more precious than gold,
he gave me that when me he would hold.
