Battle weary from life's blows,
So emotionally unstable,
We crawl into that secret place
To sit at our Lord's table.
"Forgive me, Father, I have failed..."
We let our faults and fears unfurl.
"Rest easy, child"...He covers us...
"Let Me hide you from the world."
A Voice of comfort...Voice of hope...
A Voice diminishing all doubt.
Sometimes we sheep can lose our way
But the Sheperd seeks us out.
There is no ocean deep enough...
No mountain top too high...
No place on earth where we'll escape
From our Lord's all seeing eye.
He'll gently draw us back to God...
Tend to our cuts and bruises.
We must allow Him to avenge
Us anyway He chooses.
He understands our sense of shame
As the storm within us rages.
The world may throw its many stones
But He's the Rock of Ages!
Like a sparrow with a broken wing,
We come crashing to the ground.
But eagles are we meant to be
So we can't remain earth bound.
We must rise above the darkened skies..
Above the thunder humans hurl...
And smile into the face of God
While He hides us from the world.
