Torn From the Pages of My Heart

Be Still, My Heart

I see my heart breaking before me
Crumbling into pieces at what I see
I feel it's tug, it's grieving sigh
Hidden from everyone but me.

I see my heart completely in defeat
Lights turned off, as if after a play
It drags itself to a recuperating sleep
Covering itself with a blanket, crying the pain away

Be strong, my heart. Don't weep so much.
With what's already over, something else would begin.
Be strong again, my heart... you will still love again.
The walls you put up to protect yourself will someday be broken

Everything you thought you knew might have turned out wrong
Everything you hoped for in one person may not be for you
But be strong, my heart, someone else out there will care for you.
For now, as you wait with no one else beside you, I will comfort for you.
