Torn From the Pages of My Heart

To My Uninvited

Not one of us would dare
To say the unspoken
Not one has the amount of courage
To face what remains unbidden
We each can't bear what we could lose
Once disclosed, we fear what
The other would choose

Yet we both prefer
To lose by not saying
We go in separate lives
While inside we're praying
You fall in my line of vision
You tear me open, volumes
Said to me without being spoken
Dumbfounded, on fears that aren't
Unfounded.

I don't call upon you, you don't
Call upon me, yet we're puzzled
I feel like I belong to you
And you strangely belong to me
Fear of the uncertainty
Will always cause our defeat
We fall in line to the norm
That not one of us would cheat
My uninvited, would it matter to know
Beside me, you'll always have a seat
If you'd just dare say the unspoken
Face the unbidden that's been
Hanging in the air between us
Threatening to either unite or break us.
