The beautiful flowering tree stood so unhappy
so lonely and cold,
if you look at the branches closely
there's a story to be told.
I asked the tree why so sad
and it said the true spirit is lost,
all caught up in progress the newest fad
if they only knew the cost.
Each of my branches are weak
and from the hands of greed they're worn,
so much faith to seek
to not have comfort scorn.
It was put here to show the earth
that a treasure grows in the heart,
and with all its worth
this message it hopes to impart.
I took the tree home
sat it by the hearth inside the door,
the tree never again felt abused and alone
now having a glow forever more.
I feel like that tree my friend
but in my case a nightmare took its toll,
the beauty i once spread came to an end
cause the hands of time from me stole.
