Dance with your daughters while you have a chance
Put your arm round her and take her by the hand
Make a fool of yourself it really doesn’t matter
This she will remember if ever her worlds starts to shatter
Take time with your daughter, let her do your hair
Play house with your daughters, take her to the fair
Drink imaginary tea, eat imaginary food
Be a clown sometimes don’t be so cool
Take funny pictures, put on funny hats
When she is all grown up she will remember that
Life is but a vapor its span not guaranteed
Now is the time to be the father that she needs
Not just the protector or the one who provides
But the laughter as well as love she feels inside
Dance with your daughters while you have the time
Speak softy to your daughters sooth her troubled mind
The time will come someday when you will leave this earth
Consider what the relationship with your daughter is worth
No one wants to think about that awful dreadful day
When a child is unexpectedly taken away
While you have the breath be what she needs in a father
And whether she ask or not go and dance with your daughter
