ALWAYS

Oh my dear God in Heaven above
Please tell me how to stop missing my love

I stare at the telephone
There is no sound
No blinking red light shows me
That you are still around.

I try to be happy
But nothing I do
Can change the feeling that
I'm lost without you.

I think all of this goes back
To a very young me
Who still misses someone so precious
My sweet Daddy

Daddy, I was eighteen when you died
And I remember how everyone cried
I couldn't cry, though the tears welled up
I knew if I started, I could never stop.

What was I to say?
What was I to do?
Sometimes other men were dear to me
But no one ever compared with you.

Then one happy day, Milt entered my life
He crept into my heart and loved me
Through many years of sadness and strife.

However, Milt decided to die
And this time, all that I did was cry.
Guess I'm lucky, because God up above
Gave to me in one lifetime
Two guardian angels to love.

I pray that they're together in Heaven
Because, you see
My two angels will be united
Looking down, smiling, and watching over me.
