The Crown of Thorns  repost

***Crown Of Thorns***

Approaching this all Holy Season,
We recall with much clarity
The death and the burial of God's Holy Son
Crucified for you and for me.

As we remember His humiliation...
The painful price that He had to pay...
Recall Him given that cruel thorny crown
To wear upon that historic day.

But this crown, meant to demeanor,
Was a legitimate, traditional thing.
It was Coronation Day for all Jewish Kings
How sad, they knew not their King!

For on the 15th day of Nisan...
The morning The Passover began,
Herod robed Jesus in regal apparel
And bowed down to God fleshed as man.

Really meant in mockery and insult,
But this meanness did pave the way
For the public Coronation of Jesus...
To put God's royal plan on display.

It was not merely coincidence...
Every scene was programmed and set.
When Pilate presented Jesus as King
The Coronation was certainly met.

As we are approaching The Passover,
Let's reflect on what history brings.
All kings of Israel were crowned at this time.
Nisan was the New Year for Kings!

Since Jesus has become our Passover,
Our Royal King forever He'll be!
Let's not be saddened by that Crown of Thorns...
It's passed over for our own Royalty!

And there cometh a day up in Glory
When His Coronation will be a repeat
Each jeweled, gold crown He's planning for us
We will lay down, in love, at His feet.

According to The Jewish Voice:
In the ancient world Israelites regarded the 1st of
Nisan(April) as the New Year for Kings, and the festival of
Passover as the actual coronation day.

"And Herod with his men of war set Him at naught, and
mocked Him, and arrayed Him in a gorgeous robe...."
Luke 23: 11

"And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns and put it
on His head, and they put on Him a purple robe. And said,
"Hail, King of the Jews...." John 19: 2-3
