End of a long week, and the close of a long day
Longing for home and now finally on my way
Begging for the traffic to give me a break
Don’t make this trip take longer than it should take
So far so good, freeway was a breeze
All the way in one lane passing with ease
Now to the street lights, please be kind
5 minutes from home can’t wait to unwind
The first light was quick but wouldn’t you know
There is always some inattentive driver who doesn’t go
I get upset, what’s wrong with this clown
Pay attention you are slowing others down
The last light was a long one, at least to me
10 minute wait, or it just seemed to be
Next thing I know I hear horns blow
And I’m the one who didn’t go
Then it dawned on me, we’ve all been there
We get tired; we daydream, or sometimes just stare
Some won’t admit it but I’d be willing to bet
We often do the same things that make us upset
It just easier to see fault in someone else
Than to admit to the faults in our own selves
We rush to judge, we love to criticize
What we see through the beam in our own eyes
Let’s all just slow down and get a better view
Because the next traffic light could catch you
