Life Story #20

Back to jail again to do some more time
Another prison sentence for another stupid crime
The first time as a Juvenal out to have some fun
Looking for a friend but found the wrong one
Just a young child the first time in
So why regain the freedom to go right back in
Young and intelligent, lots of personality
Why in the world do you not want to be free?
What is the story with behind someone like that?
Who wants prison to be the home where they hang their hat?
Was it a childhood that was much too sad?
Or maybe a parent told them they were born bad
One person's story may be different from another
But from one prospective what can we discover
Went in the first time at fifteen came out at twenty
And found that the world had changed plenty
The simple childhood wasn't simple anymore
Difficult situations behind every closed door
Nobody loves an ex-con except another ex-con
Corporate America won't hire you so a bubby put you on
It wasn't honest money, and crime doesn't really pay
So it's back in prison for another long stay
Out once again, ten years gone by
Couldn't wait to get out but not too sure why
Now armed with an education there are possibilities
Still life isn't as easy as it should be
Prison offered stability and a place to fit in
So before you know it time to go back again
Just too hard to handle and too late to catch up
Too proud to sit on a corner with a beggars cup
Tough situation to consider, who knows what state of mind
How to stay in the race once you've fell so far behind
What would be the right way to rebuild and repair?
You couldn't really know unless you were there
