Torn From the Pages of My Heart

SHERYL, FALL IN LINE!

Even if you keep denying your heart to feel,
Favoring your brain, because that's how
You want yourself to be.

Even if emotions are tricky.
They'd creep
Into your health,
Into the things you do,
'Til you can't hold them in.
They'd burst as daggers
Or bile,
Poison to those near you
Still... Sheryl, fall in line!

You say you forgot that you once
Let your emotions run free.
For most of your life,
They pranced in your mind,
Playing with nightmares and dreams;
Plumped your heart
With both hope and fear,
Never with despair.
They painted your sight,
And your world was once
Fluttering in color
Because of them.

Your were laughably fluffy
Naive, yet so full
'Til others got the best of you
Forced you to fall in their line
You scoffed at feelings
Not knowing...
You'd be tied, crippled, dragged
At the end of their line.

When will you learn
That you can't do things
The way most people do them?
Holding yourself in suffocates you,
Letting yourself go alienates you.
But in every path you find,
You can't hold their line.
