No Words

No Words

Have you ever had a worry so heavy on your mind
Or a grief so complex that no words could define
Have you ever had an issue so out of control
Or life situation that rips your very soul
You decide to take it to the Lord in prayer
But when you kneel at the altar the words just aren’t there
Oh the hopelessness of a saint who cannot pray
Falling face down before the Lord with nothing to say
I don’t know about you but I’ve been there many times
Searching frantically for words I couldn’t find
Sitting silently in my closet feeling so alone
With nothing to bring to the Lord but moans
Then one day when I was all cried out
The Holy Spirit spoke a scripture to remove all doubt
He reminded me that in weakness and faint of heart
The benefit of being sanctified and set apart
The Spirit Himself intercedes on our behalf
Through groaning and utterances we don’t have
We have an intercessor, a very present help
I am represented before the Lord in spite of myself
When my sorrow or even praise is too deep for words
Although overwhelmed by silence my alms are heard
Thanks be to God, creator of the universe
I am fed before I hunger, given drink before I thirst
No words can express, describe, or explain
The joy, the comfort, or the peace in Jesus name
The love that was present before my life began
The love that went to the cross for all man
The power and the wisdom that made a way
For prayer to be heard when I had no words to say
