ANNIVERSARY WALTZ

A prince and princess
Promising to love
Oh, how they danced
On the night they wed!

Later four baby boys
Join them one by one
Smile at Daddy
Smile at Mommy.

Four Bar Mitzvahs
Two boys marry . . .
Prince and princess
Now grandparents.

And the waltz plays
For the last time.

Then a new spring . . .
Baby grandson
Smiles at grandpa
Smiles at grandma.

The new grandma
Gathers their photos
Pages and years
Now evolving.

Four young men
 Keep the promise
Such happiness -- and then tears
Two now apart
But alive in her heart.
