Songs of Life

When I Dream of Love

In the shadow of the wind I found shelter from the sun.
She cooled the fire flowing from my pen and taught me to dance.
Mystical music caressed us under a fairy's moon.

I sensed there was more.

The clouds parted, and two minds were soothed in their insanity.
We stared into our reflected images and befriended our inner voices,
Breaking the chains of self doubt.

Quietly I stepped back to check my feelings.

I entered the loneliness that kept you in the dark,
Surrounded by a world of light, we shared that special place
Where your emotions flickered like candle light.

I turned to extend my hand and met a salute.

There, I was on a parade ground where everyone was on review.
So far away you stood, so strong, in charge, yet so fragile in your balance.
A fellow veteran I wanted to hug you and say things will be good,

But I was held back as I my head began to swim.

I was swamped with feeling for the twins who would fly.
Their words touched me and shrouded me like curtain of silk on a Cypress tree.
In silent response I retreated back to hide within my heart.

A fog arose and I stepped through the haze in search of a new reality.

I discovered a distant land where immortality was granted to all who would
open their hearts to romance, cherries and cream.
A wide open world of mystery and spice, I felt I was home.

Emotions screaming to be told, I take my pen in hand.

But the sea is calling, calling me to return where I flow with the sand,
Under each waves crest I experience the turbulence of my feelings.
I finally see my release, and I am free to float beneath the stars.
