My Friend Herb Elliot
he was a MARINE, for thirty years, and survived World War two
prisoner of War Camps, and
I Respected this MARINE--quite ALOT
Herb actually he was my Patient when I was a Nurse
and many many Stories together he and I would CONVERSE
For Herb was eighty-TWO
and he had lung cancer but was so Brave strong and Motivated TOO
I took him out in the patio to Smoke
even almost up to his last days before he passed he said cigarettes are not going to BEAT HIM
as he had deep seeded trauma of the horrors of world war two,and the prisoner -of-War-camps that tortured HIM, but they
never broke him and he survived and went home and his life he did--Survive--and--WIN
Herb
said a very few WORD
But always I remember the steely look in his EYE
fighting back to cry, as he said cigarettes will not do him IN
but so sadly cigarettes with lung cancer did do him in and took his Life and did WIN
The deep seeded trauma that folks have to live with and DEAL
from unhealthy addictions become their convictions and
their life living and love is shortened and the
unhealthy vices of addictions their longevity robs and steals
We can never criticise another's choice
of unhealthy vices, for we never know the DEPTH, of their hurt and PAIN
as my --MARINE--Friend--MR-HERB, he fought his deep seeded trauma as survival the exact SAME
