Songs of Life

"50 Years a Mate" revised

"50 Years a Mate"

Ah yes, I remember you, please walk with me a while.
Your name, you know, it slipped my mind, but I seem to know your smile.
Walk with me and take my hand so I won't lose you in the crowd.
There seems to be so many people and they all talk much too loud.
Tell me how you know me, do I remind you of someone?
Maybe you could stay awhile, we're having so much fun.
I notice that your hand's adorned with a simple golden band.
I'm really glad to talk with you and walk holding your hand.
Why such sadness in your eyes when you smile and say you'll stay.
You know I swear I met someone just like you yesterday.
