The Journey

By Cynthia L.B. Bogear
Written May 25, 2020

"What's your path child?" echoed through my mind,
Only years into life did I realize there was no path,
A path seems to carry in a directional wave,
Life with its complicity takes on a journey,
I've traveled a journey that has taken me far,
The journey much like a hard luck tale,
Speaks of truths that were taught to me well,
One could almost drown in quick sand along the way,
Was it lust for life or beauty of the soul pushing me forward,
A combination of much more could possibly be,
To describe life as a path would limit the journey,
Limitation by far would I never know,
Life once told me to slow as I grow,
Was never said to hold so much wonder,
In my years a desire burns in my soul,
I could with my many years start to slow,
However, to slow would mean to grow old,
My journey has yet to feel over,
Desiring knowledge across the world and centuries burns within,
Flashes of worlds I have yet to know calls to me,
The journey of life I cannot slow,
I don't imagine I'm ready  to grow old,
Continue on I shall for the journey makes life worth the adventure.
