Goodbye Jack

Still the frost persists across,

April's meadows draped in fog,

Spring is here but Jack's not done,

A winter nip should cool the sun.

Early blossom curls and dies,

The air too sharp for flowers to thrive,

Bracelet cobwebs hang festooned,

From garden tables, chairs and tools.

Jack's fingers bring surprise delights,

Fields of stars in bright sunlight,

From nature's jewel box open wide,

Come rainbow pearls and tiger's eyes.

But soon the sun will work its trick,

When all will melt away drip, drip,

And nature's jewel box close at last,

For summer's coming - goodbye Jack.
