The Bravest And The Best

I am the knight in shinning armour
Armour that is polished bright
Galloping on my trusty stead
As if his hooves were on fire
As if they were alight
The moon reflecting off my armour
On this moonlit night searching for adventure
Searching for a fight

I search with shield and sword in hand
I search throughout this fair land
I search for the last dragon hiding in his lair
So for death and glory I will fight him there
With the heart of a lion I will do my very best
Until I find him I will not sleep nor rest

I search for towers and I search for keeps
To save fair maidens as their guards do sleep
I wear many damsel’s favours on my arm
For I am handsome and filled with wit and charm
For I am brave beyond compare
I would not hurt a lock of a lady’s hair

I have fought in this old Northumberland
In castles great and castles grand
I have fought at pageants with lance and won my spurs
I have fought the blackguards and fought the good Sirs
I have fought with axe and have fought with mace
While I stand proud the other loses face

I have fought in many bloody battles and many bloody wars
I have fought crusades on many foreign shores
I have fought with Northumberland’s banner held up proud and high
I will serve the red and yellow stripe crest until the day I die

I have fought shoulder to shoulder with other knights
The bravest and the best
Yet it is the shinning knight who stands out from the rest
I fought on open battlefields
Where there is nowhere to run or hide
But when it comes to battle I throw back my head and laugh
And take it in my stride.

I am the knight in shinning armour brave and bold
Where stories have been sung and stories that’s been told
Of cutting off the last dragon’s head
Fighting him all night until he was dead.

Now I have been cut and I have bled
And had wounds that have left me for dead
But the shinning knight he returns brave and strong
His lust is for life and his quest goes on
