words ever flowing/pieces of me

A Real Man

Despite the rain
jangling down the sidewalk is what he did
sliding underneath brown leaved trees
walking on dirt where grass once flourished
a smoke in hand and a theory in mind
stepping out of time
with everyone else in this day and age
talk to you in words from the heart
look at you with the eyes of a child
and he was a man
the world didn't understand
see the world thinks loud and mean is a man
but the world just doesn't understand
it's in the way you handle the pain
the strength is in your veins
not in showing someone how weak they are
not hiding in a bottle
or trying to escape this
it's what he would say
it'll be ok, it'll be ok
