Heart Of The Matter

The Perfect Day

You pick me up,
We've made a date,
You drive me to the sea,
We have some lunch,
And talk a while,
The world's just you and me.

We pay the check,
And make our way,
To a beach just out of town,
We take a blanket,
From the car,
And then,
You lay me down.

The sun is warm,
Upon my face,
You trace it,
With a finger,
We're so close now,
You touch my lips,
And for a moment, linger.

You're lying now,
Beside me,
My heart,
Now set to fly,
I'm drowning slowly,
In your eyes,
The waves come crashing by.

You fold me now,
Within your arms,
Now, we two souls,
Are one,
I close my eyes,
Drift off to sleep,
And when I woke………..

You'd gone.
