Heart Of The Matter

I Remember

A chance encounter in a lift,
A meeting out the blue,
We glance at one another,
Yes, I remember you.

We voice our recollection,
With words polite and few,
Recalling hidden memories,
Yes, I remember you.

The days of wine and roses,
When friendship formed and grew,
I shed tears on your shoulder,
Yes, I remember you.

And I recall the laughter,
The crazy antics too,
Oh, how we laughed at life then,
Yes, I remember you.

You offered me protection,
You kept me sane, it's true,
I had a friend for life then,
Yes, I remember you.

A friendship like no other,
Oh, how those years just flew,
They'll never be forgotten,
Yes, I remember you.
