Heart Of The Matter

It  Was There I Found You

It was there I found you,
Dark and sinister,
Brooding and melancholy,
A dingy smoke filled room,
For dingy smoke filled people,
It was there I found you,
Lost and stupefied,
By tarnished golden nectar,
Brazen and bold,
Staring defiantly,
And cold.

It was there I found you,
Weakened by desire,
And want, and need,
A light shone through,
The chink in your armour,
And a slither of your soul,
Exposed in my presence,
Laid bare,
For all those who cared,
To see.

It was there I found you,
And power was mine,
Through gentleness and love,
And complete acceptance,
Of the many human failings,

Yes,
It was there I found you,
In a dingy smoke filled room,
I won the battle,
Only to lose my heart,
For evermore.
