Heart Of The Matter

The Sky Burns Blue

Those anxious thoughts,
Invade your head,
You're colour blind,
And seeing red,
Why is it life,
Just gets you down,
You'd like to smile,
Yet wear a frown,

And friends all gone,
At times, forgotten,
A bad taste left,
Like fruit, that's rotten,
You wander through,
The witching hour,
Uncertain, whether,
Sweet or sour,

Long hours vacant,
Night grows colder,
And all at once,
You feel much older,
Huddled, in a worn out chair,
Broken, battered,
Heart, threadbare,

The night sky dark,
And unrelenting,
Wind howls through,
The room you're renting,
Storm and tempest,
That's you! friend,
Bitter sweet,
The very end,

And so to sleep,
Find some repose,
Just counting sheep,
Till comatose,
Some gentle music,
Sees it through,
And behind the clouds,
The sky burns blue.
