Heart Of The Matter

Golden Slumber

I lie in golden slumber,
And drift down to the shore,
No stranger am I, to it,
I've been many times before,

The coast is wild and rugged,
The sky is pink at night,
I see you there, you take my hand,
Now everything seems right,

We watch the amber sunset,
And feel that inner glow,
I don't ask you, how you're feeling,
Instinctively, I know,

You're happy just to be with me,
No quiet conversation,
We're lost within each others thoughts,
It's such a strange sensation,

A gentle sea breeze blowing,
The waves lap on the shore,
And you and I together,
Could we really ask for more?

You put your arms around me,
Share a long and lingering kiss,
I know that come tomorrow,
It's this moment that I'll miss,

We watch the sun departing,
It's sinking like a stone,
My head rests on your shoulder,
I woke up,
At home, alone.
