Heart Of The Matter

Forever, Friend.

I thought I'd like to write to you,
But what more could I say,
What could I do to change your mind,
And make you want to stay,

You've been unsettled for so long,
And choices you must make,
I pray you make the right ones,
Don't do it for my sake,

For you are on your pathway,
And I am here, on mine,
Whatever will become of us,
Will be, made clear, in time,

For things have changed for both of us,
Life never stays the same,
We travel on our journey,
No time to play the game,

And standing at the crossroads,
We'll be guided by our fate,
Perhaps, we'll take the same road home,
Or perhaps, we'll deviate,

For you and I were meant to be,
Together, for all time,
And distance cannot alter,
The meeting of the minds,

I do not need to see you,
To know you think of me,
For when, distracted from my chores,
Your thoughts are what I see,

And somewhere on that distant road,
In time, we will depend,
I'll come to you; and you to me,
We'll be forever, friend.
