Heart Of The Matter
Took Time Out
I don't do lunch,
Not usually,
But I did yesterday,
And today,
Took time out,
From a busy desk,
And sat by a quiet riverbank,
In the company of friends,
Under a burning, blazing sun,
The river ran fast,
Nearby, a lone angler cast his line,
Hopeful and expectant,
He waits in silence,
I'd quite forgotten,
How pleasant conversation could be,
Intelligent conversation,
Putting the world to rights,
Interspersed with humorous anecdotes,
Of the office kind,
We ate, laughed,
Watched the river roll by,
And commiserated with the angler,
When the fish refused to bite.
