Heart Of The Matter

My Love Remains

My love remains where I belong,
A fragrant scent, the sweetest song,
Thoughts lie softly on my heart,
To stab me with a poisoned dart,
Now tarnished by my one desire,
And ever eager for the fire,
My love alone will light the flame,
To leave it burning, speak his name,
Whisper silently within,
I am nothing without him.

Yet I am all, because of this,
A love that touched me with a kiss,
His face returns to haunt sometimes,
And when it comes, the poetry rhymes,
The sun sends forth a healing ray,
And the child in me comes out to play,
For time won't dim the memory,
It's branded in the heart of me,
I face the truth, I will not lie,
I know his love, now I can fly.

(for my true 'Braveheart', always)
