Heart Of The Matter
My Dilemma
I qualify this year, for a long service award, twenty five years working in the NHS!
My reward, gift vouchers, and tea with the Queen! Herein lays my dilemma.
Twenty five years,
Of pain and distress,
An invite to the palace,
The gift, M & S,
The Queen's Garden Party,
Set out to impress,
I can't wear the jeans,
It must be a dress!
Now, I'm just not the type,
For chiffon trimmed hat,
I won't be seen dead,
Wearing something like that,
But the Queen, she has spoken,
Requests I attend,
And I'm thinking, ‘the jeans',
Could perhaps set a trend?
But No! I am told,
A dress it must be,
Something floaty,
And feminine,
That's really not me,
Twenty five years,
More grief and despair,
I'm required to attend,
But...
What the hell do I wear?
