Heart Of The Matter

Cease Now, Selfish Tears .....

In truth,
I've never cried like this,
The tears washed over me,
In painful waves and gut wrenching sobs,
Then subsiding into silence,

The thoughts in limbo somehow,
The why's, the, what ifs?
The questions unanswerable,
Yet still, they settle there,
For want of somewhere else to be,

I wore well the grief,
In a shroud of deepest purple,
I shut out the light,
And my truth escapes me,
For a while,

I retreat to the silence,
For I dare not speak,
Dare not to speak,
Lest the words consume me,

I listen,
Hands of gold,
Lead me close to him,
And I can feel the joy,
That is this man,

Cease now,
Selfish tears,
You cry not, for him,
For he is free,
Burdened only,
By dependency,

Discard the shroud of mourning,
Detach from sadness,
And in the light, I see my truth,
It's shining bright again,

For what will be,
Was meant to be,
It's in the Master's hand,
And who am I to question things?
I'll never understand.
