Heart Of The Matter
You Gave So Much
You gave,
All of your life, you gave,
Freely and without hesitation,
You gave of yourself,
Selfless to the end,
You gave to me,
My friend.
I watched you slip quietly away,
Felt your spirit leave,
Swiftly, you surged through me,
In a moment of joyous defiance,
You set yourself free,
And now, you soar,
Ever near, never far,
Still giving and forgiving,
Because you are,
The man, the spirit,
That you are,
Dear friend, I will miss you,
And now, I pray,
“God bless you”,
For you gave so much,
To me.
