Heart Of The Matter

Was It Always You?

Was it was always you,
Shining a beacon of love,
Deep into the dark midnight sky,

A light that shone brighter than any star,
Comforting and caressing,
Taking my hand and raising me up,
To the highest heavens,

Did we really dance?
To the sound of angel choirs,
And rise from the ashes,
Of loves burning fires,

Or did the heat of the moment,
Carry us on a desert storm,
Leaving us to cling desperately,
To one another,
Deceived by need or desire,

I still see your light,
Though dimmed by tears of despair,
And clouded by lesser judgement,
Was it always you?

You …. who were always there.
