The giggles and laughter are infectious
As I sit by the playground at noon
Children of various sizes and shapes
All playing to a happy tune.
The helter skelter is swarming with little fingers
All itching to be the next to climb to the top
Pushing and shoving each other in the back
“Oh won't you please all stop?”
They whiz down it, their faces a picture
Screaming and squealing with joy
Then dashing around like crazed little ants
Searching for the next super toy.
“Push me higher”, they shout as they swing frantic
Trying to peer over the fields and trees
The climbing frame is the next on the agenda
Under the bottom rung they attempt to squeeze.
Sometimes life is like a playground ride
One minute you're up, the next you're down
Don't waste what time you have in this glorious state
Life's too short to wear a miserable frown.
