Heart Of The Matter

Dealing With The Details

She's dealing with the details,
Of a drowned out love affair,
The dormant feelings deafening,
She's still screaming out, “I care”,

But she carries on regardless,
She lives from day to day,
Just dealing with the details,
Little more that she can say,

Works hard and plays a little,
Eats and sleeps and calls a friend,
Late at night she writes some letters,
That she knows she'll never send,

And she knows she's being foolish,
But love keeps her holding on,
Never thought he'd find another,
She'd wake up and find him gone,

She won't hear a word against him,
She loves him just the same,
In her dreams, he comes back to her,
And she's in his arms again.
