 The  Woman  Inside

               He  brushed  back  my  hair,
              And  looked  beyond  my  eyes,
                 He  forgot  my  smile,
                And  took  a  look  inside.

Little  by  little,  day  by  day,
He  found  his  way  to  my  hiding  place,
                Somewhere  no  one  else
                 Had  ever  cared  to  go.

                   Without  any  armour
                   He  demanded  the  key,
                   To  painful  secrets,
                   Desires  and  dreams.

                   He  asked  for  it  all
                  The  good  and  the  bad,
                   What  makes  me  happy,
                    What  makes  me  sad.

                   Without  any  warning
                   My  door tumbled  down
                  And  out  came  the  woman,
                    Who  lived  inside.

                   He  watered  my  dreams
With  a  pail  of  old  tears,
                    Shared  my  desires,
                  And  mixed  them  with  his.

                    My  secrets  he  tore
                   Into  shreds  that  day,
And  tossed  them  to  the  wind
                   To  be  carried  away.

                   I've  never  replaced
                   That  broken  old  door,
Because  I  don't  live  there  anymore,
I  live  in  him,  he  lives  in  me,
He  cared  enough  to  turn  the  key,
He  loved  the  woman  inside  of  me.
