4 Tanka Captive Falcon


Blue skies so immense
Canopy of shifting clouds
Drift across the sun
Rooted mountains rising up
Connecting earth and heaven

Caged falcon struggles
Panic in her feathered breast
Wings folded head bowed
Held fast in loving bondage
Learns a different kind of flight

Blackness nothing seen
Warm encasement covering
Open mind deep thought
Soft dark sensations of touch
Melting inhibitions gone

Hooded falcon stands
Talons grip a leather glove
Dark blindness calming
Listening for bright commands
Longs to see the sky again
