About Gloria Feliciano…



Gloria Feliciano, recipient of a Bronx Council on the Arts BRIO Fellowship Award, is a poet, playwright, author of short stories and theatre director. Her play, Between Blessings ran for 3 weeks at the world-renowned, Nuyorican Poets Café, was published (unedited version) in an anthology (Simon & Schuster) entitled "Action: The Nuyorican Poets Café Theatre Festival", and later produced at the University of Pittsburgh. Additional writing credits include several other plays, a collection of poetry, a sitcom pilot, and short stories published in New York Latino magazine. Her most recent writing is a fiction book entitled Crossing Lines: Letters of Heaven.



In addition to writing, Feliciano is the founder of Goli Theatre Productions and Mofongo Theatre Productions which produced the acclaimed interactive mystery-comedy, Pitito Revolver: The Broadway II Mystery, co-written with the late, Obie-Award-Winning Playwright, Luis A. Delgado. In 1999, with the Bronx Council on the Arts as conduit, Feliciano founded the Louis A. Delgado Fellowship for Writers.



Gloria Feliciano made her directing debut in 1994, with Ricanstruction: Estorias from El Barrio, which enjoyed runs at Nuyorican Poets Care, West End Gate, and La Tea. From 1998 to 2002, she directed Sarah Jones' character performances in London and many U.S cities, as well as Ms. Jones' Women Can't Wait, and the critically acclaimed, Surface Transit. Under her direction, Surface Transit has been staged in many notable venues throughout NYC including the American Place Theatre, P.S. 122, Tribeca Performing Arts Center, Aaron Davis Hall, Nuyorican Poets Café and major cities throughout the U.S. In 2001 Surface Transit was nominated for a Drama Desk Award.



Ms. Feliciano's latest ventures include Abuela Says…™, a T-shirt line that revives the heart-warming sayings of Spanish-speaking grandmothers. This initiative, aims to spark dialogue among younger generations and preserve Latino culture through the use of old Spanish sayings. In addition, she served on the Board of Directors of Bronx Council on the Arts and The Ghetto Film School for 4 years.
