The Narrow Gate

Sitting there eating and drinking with Him
They asked the question, possibly assuming to be in
As sons of Abraham, how could they not
But the answer expected was not what they got
“Will there be few that will be saved”, they asked the Lord
Jesus gave the answer to that and much more
The first will be last and the last will be first
The worst consider best and best considered worst
They thought their religion got them in
The Jews were first; Christ was sent to them
The gentiles were last; thought to be excluded
But now, through His blood all are included
Luke chapter 13, verses 22 through 30
Changes what we assume it is to be worthy
It's not about the amount of time you spend in church
Or how well we remember and recite our favorite verse
You don't tithe your way through the narrow gate
Titles or positions are not even up for debate
Many of the well known here on this earth
Will come to find they have no heavenly worth
“The narrow gate” is the only way, the truth, and the life
That's excepting and confessing Jesus is the Christ
Believing in his death, burial, and resurrection
And surrendering your way to the opposite direction
That gate is open now but He says one day
It will be shut and outsiders will be pushed away
“Strive to enter in at the strait gate”
Seek to do His will before it's too late
Access will be granted to the one
Who says “not my will, but yours Lord be done”.
