Waiting patiently by the shore

I hear the quiet of the night
I see your pleading eyes
Long dark lashes light my way
As I inch towards yesterday
Your laughter carries me so far
When heart is dying, parched
Some days I hurt so much
My soul feels deeply crushed
I want to walk with you my beau
Feel sand between our toes

Our voices sweetly blended
The air so sweetly scented
The fresh rain lightly falls
Tap, tap on concrete walls
Softly I whisper your dear name
So thankful that you came
If only for a little while
to cajole my soul to smile
To ease this hurt a little bit
As all alone here I still sit
Waiting patiently by the shore
For you to open that closed door

Soul!
