She Closed Her Eyes

(I miss you my dear precious Gramma!)

When my walls close in
I think of her sweet voice
Full of soothing words
To fill this empty void
I see her eyes of wisdom
I feel her heart so near
I still can feel her warmth
So loving and sincere
The tears that fill within
Cannot be heard outside
I’ve learned to stifle pain
Kept buried deep inside
Oh why must time stand still
Allow for pain to sear?
I hear her all the time
As if she were still here
No longer can she phone me
Nor can I smell her scent
The angels came for her
She closed her eyes and went
I’m but an empty shell now
She took the best of me
I want her back so bad
But I know she’s free
