A Lovely Thought
The island of wants~~
--versus
The land of need~~
I have all I want on my little private island--
Everything you could possibly dream of is found right here..
All I have to do is think it out loud, and it appears..
If I want, Money or fame, convenience~~wealth beyond measure..
99 vestal virgins, between the ages of 16 years old and twenty~~
All to command at my leisure..
If I wanted a shiny Cadillac car, or an education that'll take me far..
All the intelligence of Solomon and all the desires of David..
All the unfounded treasure..that I could find..
Never to grow old, but with each and every new year that passes
I don't get weaker, I get stronger..
~~versus
the real world in the land of need..
We need so many things, I really don't know where to start..
A buckle for my belt, to keep my pants from falling off..
A nice hair cut for once..
A job that's understanding, if I need the day off..
A doctor, who shows mercy, not only with healing me when I'm sick..
But, when it comes time to billing me, he doesn't put me
over a barrel and have his way with me..
A drinking cup, full of the milk of human kindness--
if truth be told, and wash it all down with some cookies, and
never for my hair to fall out..
All for the sake of vanity~~
And for people to call me Rick or Ricky--
And smile for heaven's sake, and not be so darn nasty..
A better hand-shake, to go with my salad days..
A better pay check, one that lasts beyond next Tuesday..
Every failure--a stepping stone to success..
And for peace of mind--and a little more than all the rest..
