MY BEST FRIEND
I have a friend who's sweeter than sweet,
Every word she utters is such a treat;
She seems to sense when I'm down or ill,
She'll call or visit me and what a thrill!
She always knows what to do or say,
To brighten up, liven up, a very dull day;
Whenever I find myself in a bad sort,
If I roll my eyes, make a vicious retort;
A raise of her brow says I'm nasty or rude,
She would never tolerate my being crude;
It doesn't matter what sort of mood I'm in,
She's there for me, through thick and thin;
I've always endeavored not to let her down,
To be grownup and mature, never a clown;
Whatever I've experienced in my life,
Whether joy or pain, happiness or strife;
She's stuck close by me and given such care,
Always been around, my adventures to share;
I'll love her always, there'll never be another,
My very own precious, gentle, sweet mother.
I have a friend who's sweeter than sweet,
