JANET DENISE
When I was 15 I got the most wonderful gift,
She gave my life a most stupendous lift;
Mama presented me with a fine little sister,
From the very beginning, I couldn't resist her;
Her name was Janet Denise, she was full of charm,
We did all we could to protect her from harm;
She was my most precious little jewel,
Took her everywhere I went, even to school;
We couldn't keep her from the evils of life,
She even cried the tears of an unhappy wife;
Jan enjoyed things like diamonds and pearls,
But found greater joy in her two little girls;
The worst time of my life was the night Janet died,
I'll never recover. I've tried and I've tried.
I have this big empty space in my heart,
Sometimes I think it's pulling the rest of me apart;
I miss her more with each passing day,
That I'll never forget her, there's no need to say;
But I don't want this void filled by another,
It's a spot I keep reserved just for her.
