Absent Minded

Language of the blind and deaf

Blind man cant you hear
cant you hear the beat
the beat of my drum
the beat beat beat of my drums?
now clap clap your hands
to the beat beat beat of my drum.
Blind man can you hear
can you hear the beat beat beat of my drum?
whistle whistle sing along
follow me to safety to the beat beat beat of my drum

Deaf man
don't you know
the ones clapping and whistling and singing
are blind following me to safety to the beat beat beat of my drum
it's blind leading the blind
and you need to follow what you see
the clapping the drums
come follow the beat the beat the beat of my drums
come to safety to the beat of my drums

blind man do you see
do you see the possibility of the beat the beat the beat of my drums?
blind man are you listening to me guide you to safety away from the cliffs
to the beat the beat the beat of my drums
now clap clap clap your hands
show the deap where to go as you sign and allow them to slide
and slide as they follow you they will protect you

blind man
follow me to the beat the beat the beat of my drums
can you hear the beat the beat the beat of my drums?
and those who can hear and see
what do you really think is going on
how do you talk to the deaf and the blind at once
they are all clapping they a;ll have drums
they are all happy
but are they going to be safe ina world that doesn't cater to them but
perhaps it does

blind man
get your drums
follow your heart to the beat of mine
drums drums the beat of the drum
follow me to safety
lead me forever in circles
and the deaf will clap along trying to save you from walking in rythmic circles

come to me to me to  me
to the beat the beat the beat of my drums
even the deaf the deaf will clap their hands
but how do you sign?
how do you talk to someon ewho cannot see
you need an interpreter
one who can see and hear who can sign and see and hear and sign and talk
and then you can come to me
come to me to the beat the beat the beat of my drums
the beat of my drums
and they will clap
and you will hear them
and when you say hello
they might see
and you will have a friend
 who has read this
but like hellen keller
can a deaf man teach a blind man sign language without someone telling you what the signs are?

come to me to the beat the beat of my drums
deaf man tell the blind man to slide and clap his hands
otherwise i will always know who is who
and forever you two are stuck
I see you
beating your drums and clapping
nowhere to hide
I see you
there forever
in circles
till i come around and show you the safety
of my drums

so come with me
follow the beat of my drum
the beat of my drum
once you two get together and make your own language the seeing and hearing people cannot understand
we're all truly equal and life is now once again fair..

come with mcome with me to the beat of my drum
clap your hands
clap your hands
singa long or dance
\beat your drum along the way
as they clap their hands
we'll meet together and discover this new language
and together we'll move into the new world of a language the seeing and hearing dont know
so follow along
follow me blind man to the beat of my drum
deaf man tell the blind man to follow the drum and clap your hands to lead him there

I'll see you soon
but you are his protector until then
and you find ways to teach him sign

Until the new language is born
and he controls a new reality for you to see
